Support clubs with a sustainable model

It is many a child’s dream to play sport at the highest level.

Experience over the years showed that club sport is the ideal training ground for aspiring sports stars.

Some may indeed make it to the top of the sporting world.

In the real world, most of the youth will fall off the radar. But it doesn’t have to end there. Fulfilling some of their sports dreams can be fulfilled in different and creative ways.

They can look for other means of employment. But it calls for grit and dedication – much of the same skills required for a successful sports career.

Often these youth are without basic skills required for the workplace. The economy is slow. It is difficult to find work. South Africa has the highest unemployment in the world with about 7 m unemployed youth.

Having participated in sport somehow is a great introduction to business fundamentals.

Sports people are well suited to start their own businesses. They have learned some business fundamentals already on the sports field. Sport teaches teamwork, discipline and creates networks. Following a business course can complete this lack of necessary skill sets.

Formentco Sport stepped into the breach, providing aspiring sport entrepreneurs with the skill sets required to start, maintain and grow their own businesses.

This on-the-job training programme is delivered by means of the Formentco SMME Accelerator App. Here critical entrepreneurial skills are taught.

Candidates earn a stipend during their studies which will take care of their most basic needs. This gives them time to focus and develop their craft as sportspeople while gaining basic business skills. They can buy and sell products to their networks and communities. This provides them with earning potential right from month one.
